Course Overview:
This is a capstone course providing a structure for seniors to bring closure to their undergraduate experience while preparing for the transition from the university to the workplace or further academic study. In this course, students develop a research project drawing on the academic areas emphasized within their Integrative Studies degree plan. This course is a requirement for all Integrative Studies majors.
Course Format:
This online course is entirely conducted on Desire2Learn. The coursework is designed in an asynchronistic model with deadlines. The online course format maximizes class community experience through the course ten Discussions and with Six Assignments to best utilize the mission of the course. The ten discussions are designed for the learner to read and reflect on the course resources and the Six Assignments are designed to result in the designing and developing your GPS: Grad Portfolio.

Course Objectives:
- Students will recognize and articulate how integrating their academic interests have built a foundation for ongoing learning and growth. (for example, design and develop a reflective and public portfolio, etc.)
- Students will evaluate and present the personal and professional meaning of their collegiate educational experience, particularly in the area of skills acquisition. (for example, leadership, communication, teamwork, etc.)
- Students will develop a plan for pursuing their selected career path based on the awareness of the variety of post-graduate choices available to them. (for example, career search process, planning for graduate school, starting a business, etc.)
- Students will develop the tools needed to conduct an effective search for a career, graduate school or other post-graduate choice (for example, resume/curriculum vitae development, interviewing skills, present portfolio, etc.).
- Students will identify enhanced networking and people skills essential to aid in their success after they exit the intuition. (for example, develop their learning story, create an elevator speech, create a public portfolio, become an active alumnus, etc.)
- Students will be able to explain how life skills will help them, make a successful transition to their post-university life and deal with the cycles of change and transition. (for example, stress management, financial planning, etc.)

Coursework Grading Response Time:
Discussions will be graded within seven days of the assignment being turned in on the due date. Discussions turned in after the assigned due date will be graded in a timely fashion but will not be guaranteed a specific turnaround time.

Coursework due dates:
All course work is due on assigned date. Missing the deadline for the coursework on the scheduled date results in late work worth half credit. However, if you let me know in advance of the due date of the coursework that your coursework will be late, you will be granted an extension. Please notify me for your request for an extension for your coursework via D2L Brightspace email. Exceptions to this will be handled on a case-by-case basis.
All course assignments are designed to assist you in the successful development of a portfolio, which is a progressive, process requiring the layering of assignments resulting in a GPS: Graduate Portfolio Story. For the concise development and success of your GPS: Graduate Portfolio Story meeting the course deadlines is essential for your progress.
Try not to get behind in this online class, it is important that you regularly participate in the course. Turn in your coursework by the scheduled due dates located in this syllabus and on posted on D2L.
